Nothing Changed—Until They Felt Safe: Testimonials from our  Mindfulness with -in-Nature Retreat (Thailand ,jan 2026yr)

“Safety is not something we often think about in personal growth.

And yet—without it, nothing truly opens.

During a mindfulness-with-in-Nature retreat in Thailand, I witnessed how everything began to shift the moment people felt safe.

Here is what emerged…

Our group gathered in the garden of a natural resort in Northern Thailand.
For many, it was their first time in this environment—and their first time together.

As a coach, my main concern before beginning the retreat was not the structure or the content. It was the group dynamic.

Would everyone feel at ease?
Would unspoken tensions or personal barriers affect the sense of safety?

Designing for Safety First

When creating the retreat, I chose to begin with the element of SPACE.

The intention was simple :to invite each person to reconnect with their inner space, while gently finding their place within the group.

And as often is said :Where intention goes, energy flows.

The Moment Everything Shifted

On the second day, something changed. It was subtle—but undeniable.

Shoulders softened.Breathing slowed. The Presence was more evident .The atmosphere became quieter, more grounded.

The need to control, perform, or protect gradually faded. And in that space, something deeper began to surface.

Sharings became more open ,ore personal, more real.

Through my experience, as coach I had already realized that Transformation does not begin with techniques. It begins with safety.

In this retreat, we consciously created an environment grounded in:

  • Support

  • Kindness

  • Respect

  • Non-judgment

As participants began to feel safe, their nervous systems responded.

They relaxed.
They opened.
They reconnected with themselves.

And from that place, exploration became natural—not forced.

Safety and the Nervous System

From a mindfulness with --in-Nature perspective, safety is not just emotional—it is physiological. When the body perceives safety, the nervous system shifts out of stress and into a state of regulation.

The parasympathetic system activates:

  • The heart rate slows

  • The breath deepens

  • The body softens

Energy that was once used for protection becomes available for awareness, insight, and growth.

This state is essential.

Without it, deeper exploration—especially around emotional blocks or past experiences—remains limited.

With it, transformation becomes possible.

How was the transformation you embraced ?

The Role of Nature

Nature played a fundamental role in this process.

The softness of the landscape…
The light filtering through the trees…
The rhythm of water…
The sounds of birds…

All contributed to a sense of calm, spaciousness, and connection. Throughout the retreat, we moved across different natural environments:

  • Forests

  • Water landscapes

  • Open skies

  • Sunrise and sunset spaces

Each ecosystem offered a different doorway into self-awareness.Nature itself became part of this  container of  a silent, steady presence that supported each participant in letting go, opening up, and reconnecting.

A Living Space for Growth

What emerged was more than a retreat.

It became a shared, living space—where individuals could reflect, express, and grow with a sense of ease and trust.

Safety was no longer just an idea. It became something tangible.
Something felt. And from that place, deeper layers of awareness began to unfold—gently and naturally.

A few more Voices from the Retreat

TINA – Thailand
“I found the sharing in the circle extremely valuable, as it allowed us to see what others see in us as well — something that may not always be clear to ourselves. After one of the participants shared the element they saw in each of us, I really resonated with it and it helped me realize more about myself. The group sharing created a lovely interactive bond and exchange of energy. A very nice dynamic. The group sharing also made me realize that certain characteristics I have were shared by some others as well, which was a nice feeling.

WANGQUAN – China
The daily group sharing provided a safe and deeply resonant space. Hearing others’ experiences and interpretations of the elements made me realize how unique yet interconnected each person’s relationship with the natural elements is. During the sharing, I felt both the warmth of being understood and inspiration from others’ perspectives— particularly from those with naturally abundant fire energy, whose attitudes toward life showed me directions for my own growth.Throughout the retreat, the coach’s guidance was crucial. Laura not only facilitated activities but also deepened my self-awareness through keen observation and thoughtful questioning, helping me find my own inner answers—this inspiring companionship was more valuable than mere instruction What most valuable was the highly trusting and confidential atmosphere fostered in the retreat. From the group agreement established on the first day to the coach’s consistent emphasis on respect and non-judgment, I felt safe sharing vulnerabilities and genuine feelings. This environment is essential for deep self-exploration, and I am sincerely grateful for it. - -

DELPHINE AUPICON -France
Spending time for myself, sourcing from the energy of the nature and the people around me was a great moment. It made me think about the need to take breaks and disconnect from the routine. I liked the structure of the retreat, exploring a new element every day. I also likes the balance between the sessions and the other activities. It is not always easy to share personal thoughts with people that I did not know. Because I felt the trust and no judgement, I was confident I could share safely and the level of introspection is also flexible and can vary from one person to another one. The lodge was such a beautiful and peaceful place. Like a piece of heaven but If there is one thing I could change, I would add another night in the mountain.”

Safety as the Foundation of Transformation

Safety was the foundation of their transformation. When people feel supported, respected, and connected to themselves, to others, and to the natural world, change does not need to be forced.  It unfolds.

A Reflective Invitation

As you read this, I invite you to pause:

  • When was the last time you truly felt safe—in your body, mind, and environment?

  • What becomes possible when you allow yourself to slow down and reconnect?

  • How does the absence of judgment transform your relationship with yourself and others?

Take a moment.
Breathe.
Notice what arises.

And if you feel safe enough, you are welcome to share your reflections—or reach out privately.
